Knock Three Times....

On the ceiling if you want me… This is a great song and one that has special meaning between me and my dear friend Andrea, aka, Auntie Solies. So I know that Solies won’t mind sharing it with the Popster either! The other night I was laying on my couch, watching TV and getting ready for bed when Poppy started kicking around a bit. She probably has RLS and sleeping disorders like her mother, but we are going to pray she takes after her father in the sleep department! So, as she starts moving around, I am in awe b/c for the first time I can SEE her moving around. SO freaking cool. So she kicks and I decided to poke back. And so she would kick back. And…I would poke back. Then I decided to poke three times….and she would kick three times. If I did it once, she did it once. SHE’S BRILLIANT! HAHAHA She is also stubborn. I have no idea where she would get that type of behavior from, but she definitely doesn’t want to kick for her dad. MP felt it once and other than that, she is like no-way! He puts is hand down and she stops. She’s a lil’weasel! I love when she kicks around and plays with me. I can’t wait for more!

Daddy Do-List

It seems that the list of things for Daddy to do in order to prepare for Poppy's arrival never gets shorter. It seems like it grows daily. I am really thankful that MP is such a worker bee.

  • MP decided a week ago that he wanted to build us cabinets for our newly screened in patio. He literally designed the cabinets he wanted, complete with a wine cooler, and began work on Monday. He's been working with his dad to literally build the custom cabinets and I can't wait for the storage space and counter top for entertaining.

  • We decided yesterday to buy a new washer and dryer. The ones we have are OK, but with the baby coming, it was time to get some energy efficient goods. We wanted a stackable set to save room in our laundry room so that we can move the cat's litter pan in there. So, yeah, the cats are spoiled like Poppyseed. But we got an amazing deal and they come tomorrow, never thought I'd be so excited for new appliances!

  • We also made our trip to IKEA yesterday that we've be planning. We got all the stuff to put organization into Poppy's closet. When we bought this house, the previous owners must have ripped out the shelving. MP started it last night (he really doesn't stop) and worked on it more today (after swimming a few miles in the Gulf today -Superdad!). In true IKEA form, all the little screws and hardware needed to complete the project were taken out of the box, and we had no idea. So once I can get down there this week to grab the hardware, MP will finish it up.
It's all coming along and yet there is so much more to do!!! Trust me, dad's list is far from over. MP, thank you for all the hard work you've been doing for Poppy and Me. We love you and are thankful for you. Mostly, we appreciate your work ethic! XO

Angry Birds...and other distractions

I do not want to begin writing my portion of a research proposal. You know, the research proposal I knew about since the second week of January. You now, the one that is due in 2 weeks and my partner and I are just now starting. I would like to do anything BUT what I am supposed to. As a result, in between rounds of the game Angry Birds….I will write this blog. I haven’t blogged in about two weeks, so I’ll recap the last few weeks! I’m also watching American Idol, mind you. Which I haven’t done all year! Further proof that my house is procrastination station! So after the Poopsmith put a band aid fix on our sewage, we were all set to head to gray and cold Pittsburgh/Johnstown. We got there on Thursday night after a day of travelling and had a yummy meal by my mom. We got up early the next day to head to Johnstown for the Kane wedding festivities. I had a GREAT time at the wedding. Kellie and Jason looked great, MP pulled a funny on Jason and I made some cool new friends – the DC crew! I was also deemed as the ‘Trooper’ of the weekend - b/c even pregnant and sober my butt was in a bar until 2am….what I shouldn’t be proud of that? On Sunday we got to head over to Renee’s house for a nice little Sunday supper. Renee is definitely a Rachel Ray in the making and her food was delish! My PA girls came over, too, and it was nice to see everyone and laugh, a lot! I always enjoy that. Tired and worn out, we headed home to the rents b/c we couldn’t get on a flight back to FL until the next day. Last week was just as busy as the week before - between school work and prior commitments, I realized I just don’t stop. I am the energizer bunny. Friday we went to the Ray’s home opener with some friends. We didn’t get home until late; I was asleep and didn’t even wake up to use the potty for once. I was out like a light! I usually am getting up about every hour or so. Saturday I got up early to clean and prepare food for the visit of my Uncle Don and his wife Aunt Joanne. MP and I took them to the USF softball game and cooked dinner. We had a great time! By Sunday I was beat. I mean, BEAT. I went to church and met Elizabeth for school work and then came home and crashed. I asked MP to take care of dinner and I sat on the couch for the rest of the day. And I haven’t wanted to do much since!! Pregnancy wise – I have been feeling pretty good. I’m getting swelling every few days (as I have now) but it’s not been too bad. Usually some elevation of my legs helps. Tonight though, I even feel it in my hands. Oops, I guess that means I can’t type my paper…no? That excuse doesn’t work? We had a doctor’s appointment last week and heard Poppy’s heartbeat, again. Never get tired of that sound. She’s been kicking so much and daddy finally felt her kick, ONCE! I love feeling her move around. Ok, I guess I better go write at least a few paragraphs. I do have a deadline here.
